“Throwback” Thursday’s

November 13, 2008

In this edition of “Throwback” Thursday’s we remember the original “Bad Girls Club” of the 70’s:

CHARLIE’S ANGELS

The roles of these sexy and lethal female detectives were played by Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith.  Originally titled “The Alley Cats”, Charlie’s Angles made it’s debut March 21, 1976 to great reviews by viewers and harsh criticism by critics and feminist.  Feminist went as far as calling the show a glorified version of a pimp and his girls.  In my opinion, Charlie’s Angels was the 1st show that really showcased the true identity of a modern woman.  No longer were we depicted at home with an apron on, cooking, cleaning and raising children.  Aaron Spelling did an amazing job at portraying a strong, intelligent yet beautiful and feminine women.  You go Aaron!

So ladies, go out and conquor the world today!!  What ever it is you do or who ever you are it doesn’t matter….. as long as you are the best at it!

The sky’s the limit!

“The Changeling” starring Angelina Jolie…..2 thumbs up 🙂

Wow….I can see this movie winning an Oscar or two. Once again my girl (and favorite actress) Angelina Jolie took it to the house with an incredible performance!  But the best part about this movie – is that it’s a TRUE story!  It shows the internal corruption of the LAPD, why mothers should take extra care of their children and why you should never give up when u want or believe in something! So many learning lessons! INCREDIBLE MOVIE! Go see it at the theatres!

Raq-C’s Ratings: 2 thumbs up!

Besitos and all my love,

Raq-C

P.S.  So far we have had an amazing response to the “Thanksgiving with Raq-C” contest.  Wow, we have received some incredibly touching emails.  Because of the overwhelming response, last week we decided that there is no way we could choose just one family – so we all agreed to help 2 families!!

There’s stil time, keep the emails coming!  The winning families will be contacted by phone the weekend before Thanksgiving with the good news.

GOOD LUCK!

HE SAID WHAT???

November 7, 2008

Talk about sticking your foot in your mouth!  We all know NYC has a large Puerto Rican and Dominican influence so for Regis to “slip” as he did…totally not cool.  Honestly though, I don’t think he meant any harm he was just trying a little too hard to be funny – he is a comedian at heart after all!  What do you think?

Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa have apologized on their show to the Dominican community.

A few days ago, Regis insulted Dominicans with THIS COMMENT that was perhaps a Freudian slip, but was not taken lightly by Los Dominicanos and all Latinos alike.

Regis wants to mend things and said:

“It was brought to our attention that there was a portion of the show last week that was offensive to the Dominican community. We’ve heard from a lot of people and we’re very sorry that this was hurtful. We apologize and would never want anyone to feel hurt by something that they saw or heard on this show.”

Kelly followed up with:

“We have great respect for the Dominican community, and we would never intentionally say or do anything to offend any of our viewers because we love you.”

“Thorwback” Thursday’s

November 6, 2006

In today’s edition of “Throwback” Thursday’s we look back fondly at what has been a huge staple in our lives as Latinos.  What am I referring to?  Well good ole Aqua Net of course!  Hahaha!!

Aqua Net in my house growing up was a must!  With three girls (my mom included) getting ready every morning you needed a gas mask to walk through the white clouds!  I swear my sister went through a whole bottle of the tallest can every 3 days…she has her own hole in the Ozone layer I’m sure!  But that was then…THANK GOD!  Not only did we look a mess with 12 inch bangs, but we were not being green.  That’s all changed now with age and knowledge, but I cannot deny the good times!

I SUPPORT CHANGE……HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE!!!

November 5, 2008

Barack Obama swept to victory as the nation’s first black president Tuesday night in an electoral college landslide that overcame racial barriers as old as America itself. “Change has come,” he told a jubilant hometown Chicago crowd estimated at nearly a quarter-million people.

Spontaneous celebrations erupted from Atlanta to New York and Philadelphia as word of Obama’s victory spread. A big crowd filled Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House.

Personally, I saw Obama’s speech he gave last night, what an honorable man! The way he spoke was amazing! He didn’t overdue his victory speech like past president’s have done, yet he made all the points he needed to make. He even ackowledged the people that didn’t vote for him and said, “I need your support even if you didn’t give me your vote, I am your NEW president”, very well said!

I VOTED DID YOU?????

November 4, 2008

Ready to put my vote in @ the polling place!!!

Ready with my Ballot…..

Voting……

Hope you voted! I love America because I have a, “Voice” !!!!
